It's coming, it's coming! I can't wait for the end of the week, when The Makeup Show will be in LA. I love this show. Because it's a pro-only event, it's not the mob scene that IMATS can be. Billed as more of a boutique show, one really gets an opportunity to meet and talk to key makeup artists, brand creators.
In additon to the regular show days (Saturday and Sunday), there will be a pre-show launch and networking party held on Friday night for all those who have pre-purchased their tickets by today. Maurice Stein, founder of the makeup mecca Cinema Secrets and Academy Award winning makeup artist (he not only is known for his work on Planet of the Apes, but also has done the makeup of 3 US presidents!) will be presented an award for his Excellence & Appreciation. If you haven't already done so, purchase your tickets here. You'll save $10 for a one-day ticket, and $15 for both days if you purchase them before Thursday, and have the opportunity to attend the pre-show launch party if you buy them by today.
My goals for the show? I'd love to meet some of the makeup artists I've always been in awe of: James Vincent, Victoria Stiles, Kathy Aragon, and Ve Neil, just to name a few. Hopefully, I'll get to interview some great brands like David Klassfield from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. We'll see how successful I am at that, lol. And of course, I can't wait to spend some time with my pals Grace Chun, Melissa Street, Heather Wilson, Elessa of Pursebuzz, Koren of Enkore Makeup, Felicia of This That Beauty - the list is almost endless!
Shopping - this is the chance to see, feel, buy and touch things that aren't available to me in Hicksville, CA. First stop: Inglot, of course. Famous for their Freedom System magnetized palettes where you pick and choose exactly what you want from a gazillion shadows, blushes, etc, they debuted at last year's show, and the booth was so crowded that I never got a chance to really peruse the selection. This time, it's going to be my first stop to make sure I have ample time to really select exactly what I want. Other musts: Beauty So Clean, Embryolisse, OCC, and Temptu Pro (I really, really want to buy an airbrush system, but not sure I really, really want to spend the dinero, lol).
Of course, I'll have a pocket-full of these:
If you're going to the show, and have been curious about my Diamond Perfect Finish, hunt me down. Whether or not you're going to the show, cross your fingers for me that I can get some into the hands of some of those influential artists I'm hoping to meet!
